Before the digitalization of money, people used to carry around their coins in leather bags which were attached to their belts. Just by a short glimpse, everybody was able to get a rough idea of how much money someone had.
For this work, I connected the idea of being able to see the amount of money someone had, with the social media phenomenon of self-portrayal in every small aspect of someones life.
Apps like Periscope allow people to share and watch even the most unsignificant and/or intimate moments of someone elses life.
A small screen attached to the clothes shows in live transmission the amount of money you actually have. Status symbols are no longer necessary since no one can any longer be fooled by them. Utopia or dystopia – you decide.
